Christmas represents God’s solution to humanity’s greatest problem: sin. Every person has sinned and faces eternal separation from God, a problem no human effort can solve. Through the incarnation, God became human in Jesus Christ to live a perfect life and die as our substitute. Jesus is uniquely qualified as both fully God and fully man to bridge the gap between holy God and sinful humanity. This required two willing participants – Jesus, who willingly left heaven to become our Savior, and Mary, who surrendered to God’s plan despite the personal cost. Following Jesus requires surrender and obedience, but nothing in this world compares to the gift of salvation through faith in Christ.
